Parenting can feel hard and lonely. Let’s change that together.
Meet Jenny.
I am SO excited you are here—Welcome.
It was my own challenging initiation to parenthood that brought me to this work.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Vermont in 2002. I began my Masters in clinical social work at Boston University and graduated with my degree from the University of Denver (the mountains called me back to Colorado - where I had previously served in AmeriCorps).
I earned my License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) and a Certificate in Addiction Counseling (CAC II). I practiced for five years as a therapist working with individuals and families in the fields of mental health and substance abuse in the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program at Denver Family Therapy Center, Colorado West Mental Health and at Kaiser Permanente. I also studied at the Denver Family Institute for 2.5 years studying the family system and how to build healthy relationships.
And then I became a parent…
When my children were young, I wanted to do it “right” - to have parenthood feel good and have it all figured out. I wanted our home to be kind and smooth and what I believed “normal,” healthy families look like.
Enter reality - feeling resentful, overwhelmed and like a victim to my child’s every emotion and circumstance.
Even with all that training, I still didn’t feel confident or competent raising my boys with what was unfolding for me, practically speaking, on a daily basis.
I knew there were incredible research-based methodologies and roadmaps out there, so I dedicated myself to this study and put everything to the test in my own home. I wanted my parenting to be neurologically and anthropologically informed. I dove deep into learning and practice—so I could stop turning to “Dr. Google” to find the next quick fix.
The truth is, our children are constantly pushing us to the next stage of learning about them and learning about ourselves. This journey is so much more enjoyable when we have the solid foundation and the skills to steer our own ship; no matter what inevitable wave comes next.
I longed for a mentor, someone who could help me understand what to do, how to do it and how to tend to myself along the way. I found those mentors and grew my deep knowledge and practice.
Now it’s YOUR turn to have a mentor to help you create the family life YOU want.
I would be honored to work with you to achieve more peace—and a better understanding of your children and of yourself.
My practice is connection-based, deeply inspired by the tools offered through Hand in Hand Parenting, attachment theory and internal family systems work. My life’s passion is to help support you as you create the home life you desire, all while healing yourself, healing your lineage, and thus healing the world.
It is NEVER too late—Let’s begin.
